American character actor George O'Hanlon is best known as the character Joe McDoakes whom he played in 63 short films. O'Hanlon debuted in film as a chorus boy and extra in Warner Bros. musicals during the early '30s. He eventually became a writer and director for television. His son is George O'Hanlon Jr.
