Viveca Lindfors spent three years training at the Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm in her teens. She debuted onscreen in 1940, appearing in many films and plays in Sweden during the war years. In 1946 she moved to Hollywood and signed a contract with Warner Bros., appearing in her first American film in 1948. She went on to work in both Hollywood and international productions, few of which fully utilized her screen talents. For her work in Die Vier im Jeep (Four in a Jeep, 1951) she won acting honors at the Berlin Film Festival, repeating this feat a decade later for Huis clos (No Exit, 1962). Lindfors wrote, directed, and acted in the film Unfinished Business (1985). She has worked frequently in TV productions and stage plays; her stage work includes Anastasia, Miss Julie, Brecht on Brecht, and the one-woman show I Am a Woman. From 1949-53 Lindfors was married to director Don Siegel, then later she married playwright/director George Tabori; she is the mother of actor Kristoffer Tabori.
