Robert Warwick, born Robert Taylor Bien, was a romantic lead in silent pictures who later became a character actor usually cast as a prominent citizen or dignified military officer. As a young man, the California-born Warwick sang in a church choir. He next went to Paris to study operatic singing, but then went to Broadway where he became a major star during the early 1900s. He broke into films in 1914. In 1917, he fought in World War I as an Army captain. Following his stint in the military, he returned to the stage, for the rest of the '20s. He became a character actor when talkies became popular. Warwick made his last picture in 1959 and died in 1964.
