Richard Jaeckel is a versatile supporting actor who has played a wide variety roles. With his small frame, and youthful face, Jaeckel is frequently cast as frightened young soldiers and troubled young men, but he has also played heroes and the occasional romantic lead. In 1971 he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Sometimes a Great Notion.
