- Worked as an asphalt roofer's labourer to support himself while securing acting roles in his early years.
- Bought his own business, a sandwich bar in Woolwich, London, early in his career after saving up enough money.
- First acting role in a Hollywood picture was as Delmar in the 1993 blockbuster Cliffhanger, which starred Sylvester Stallone and John Lithgow.
- Lent his voice to Gaz in the 2007 video game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and later voiced Ghost in Modern Warfare 2 and Sgt. Wallcroft in Modern Warfare 3.
