Lesley-Anne Down began her professional career when she was only 15 in the films The Smashing Bird I Used to Know and All the Right Noises (both 1969). While continuing a steady if unmemorable film career, she became internationally famous for her portrayal of Lady Georgina Worsley in the BBC TV series Upstairs Downstairs. She continued appearing in TV productions, but her career hit a downward spiral during her failed marriage to director William Friedkin. She appeared in only three films between 1981-93.
