- Began modeling at the age of 16.
- Moved from a small town in Alberta to Vancouver to pursue more modeling opportunities when he was 19 years old.
- Appeared in advertising campaigns for American Apparel, Levi's and Opening Ceremony.
- At the age of 20, was introduced to director Ron Oliver through a mutual acquaintance while having lunch at a restaurant, an encounter which ultimately led to his first acting job in Oliver's film Shock to the System.
- Aspired to work with writer Marti Noxon growing up due to his interest in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and later achieved that goal when he was cast as Jay in the Lifetime series UnREAL.
- Spoke at the 2015 Human Rights Campaign Seattle Gala regarding underrepresentation of the LGBT community and other minorities in the media and recounted his own personal story as an openly gay, black male working in Hollywood.
