Born Alan Napier-Clavering, this supremely elegant, tall (6'5") British character actor worked in Hollywood films. After working on the British stage and in a few British films, he moved to Hollywood in 1939 and began a busy screen career in suave character roles. He is now best known as Alfred the butler on the '60s TV series Batman.
