Bio

Briton Lucy Beaumont was the veteran of four decades' worth of theatrical activity when she made her first film in 1923. Though only nine years older than John Barrymore, Lucy portrayed The Great Profile's mother in The Beloved Rogue (1928). Weirder still, in 1931's A Free Soul, she played the mother of John's brother Lionel, who was all of five years younger. In talkies, Lucy alternated between sweet old dears and dragon-like matriarches. She seemed to most enjoy parodying the traditional "little old lady" character in such films as Wheeler and Woolsey's Caught Plastered (1931) and the Edgar Kennedy 2-reeler Parlor, Bedroom and Wrath (1932). Lucy Beaumont remained in films right up to her death at the age of 63.
