David Swift is an American writer, producer, and director. His directorial career includes two memorable comedies for Disney, Pollyanna (1960) and The Parent Trap (1961), in which Swift expertly guided the talents of Hayley Mills; two rather forced, glossy films (Love is a Ball and The Interns),and then a rewarding partnership with Jack Lemmon in Under the Yum Yum Tree and Good Neighbor Sam. Swift began as a cartoonist for Disney and later became a comedy writer for radio and television, He worked on Mr. Peepers in the '50s--the comic triumph of the meek seems to be a recurring theme in his work. Swift has also scripted several comedies, including Pollyanna and Foolin' Around (1980).
