A tall, rugged, attractive leading man, George became popular as a regular on the '60s TV series Rat Patrol, then became a leading man in films, most of which were action dramas. Onscreen from 1966, he was married to actress Linda Day George, with whom he appeared in several films including his last, Mortuary, which was released posthumously.
