Along with Lou Reed, John Cale, and Maureen Tucker, guitarist Sterling Morrison founded the avant-garde rock group the Velvet Underground. They have been the subject of documentaries and also provided the soundtrack for longtime friend and mentor Andy Warhol's film The Chelsea Girls (1967).
