- Co-founded the theatre group Motley, along with the Bollywood stars Naseeruddin Shah, Tom Alter and Ratna Pathak, in 1979.
- Was a professor of English Literature at St. Stephen's College, Delhi, India.
- Has been a visiting TV professor at Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods Film Institute.
