British actress Tameka Empson was 18 when she made her feature film debut, playing a sharp-tongued black South London teenager who taunts her friends when she discovers they are homosexuals in Beautiful Thing (1996). She studied at the Anna Scher Theatre School from the age of seven. As a professional actress, Empson first appeared in the BBC television production Thinkabout.
