Barry Sullivan, born Patrick Barry in New York City, was a competent leading man in a wide variety of Hollywood B movies, but especially in gangster movies and thrillers. He has also appeared on Broadway and on television. He broke into the film industry as a theater usher before debuting on Broadway in 1936. He began acting in films such as Lady in the Dark in the early forties.
