- Acted in the National Youth Theatre at the age of 16.
- Studied Tang Soo Do, Korean martial art, before turning to boxing.
- Boxed for his college and Wales, winning the Britain University Championships twice, at which point he was sponsored for a Masters level study in sports, which he completed.
- Worked as a personal trainer while enrolled at the Armstrong Acting Academy after moving to London in 2000 to pursue a career in acting.
- Began acting professionally on stage in London and appeared on numerous British TV shows, including Heartbeat, Ultimate Force and Dream Team.
- Big break came when Oliver Stone cast him as an infantry general in the 2004 historical epic Alexander.
- Cast as vampire Marcus Van Sciver on Blade: The Series in 2006.
- Wrote and starred in the 2007 Moroccan thriller The Passage.
