- First job was to operate a spotlight for the musical Jesus Christ Superstar at the age of 18.
- Awarded The Raemakers and the Theresa Montefiore Awards for her academic achievement while an Cambridge University.
- Joined Cambridge's infamous amateur theatrical club Footlights while studying there. Other members at the same time included; Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Tony Slattery and Emma Thompson.
- Made her television debut in 1982 on the children's series No.73.
