- Born in Beirut, where his expat family ran a shipping agency founded by his great-grandfather; at age 10, he was shipped off to boarding school in Britain.
- Proposed to his wife six weeks after they met and they were married four and a half months later.
- Won a Canada Media Award in 2008 for his article about a trip to Muskoka, Ontario, Canada.
- Took part in the tenth season of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2010 and finished in fourth place.
