Lew Landers was a prolific director of low-budget westerns, action adventures, mysteries, and horror thrillers during the '30s and '40s who made over 100 films. Born Louis Friedlander in New York in 1901, he began his career directing serials at Universal in 1934 under his real name. He used it for five serials, including the Red Rider series, and three features before changing it to Lew Landers. In addition to working for Universal, Landers also directed films for RKO, Columbia, Monogram, and others.
