- Wanted to study chartered accountancy, but did not apply because of a long admission queue that he saw at the college.
- Started studying company secretaryship, but dropped out half way.
- Finally, applied at the University of Texas, but quit right before he was all set to leave for Austin, United States.
- Kuch Khathi Kuch Meethi (2001) was his first movie as an assistant director.
- Co-wrote the story for Hum Tum (2004). This was his first Bollywood writing assignment.
- Made his debut as a director with the movie Salaam Namaste (2005).
