Bio

Forceful Australian stage actor Frank Thring averaged about one movie appearance per year after his 1958 debut in A Question of Adultery. Eminently suited for Biblical roles--especially those calling for a touch of weary condescension--Thring was seen as Pontius Pilate in Ben Hur (1959) and as Herod Antipas in The King of Kings. Later on, he brought a tattered dignity to the character of "The Collector" in Mel Gibson's Mad Max movies. Children of the sixties will remember Frank Thring as the hissable sometimes villain in the Australian TV series Skippy, the Bush Kangaroo (1969).
