A veteran stage actor who had appeared opposite John Drew in Much Ado About Nothing, William Faversham in The Squaw Man, and Maude Adams in Chanticleer, dark-complexioned Bertram Marburgh became a fixture in Hollywood films of the 1910s and 1920s, usually portraying powerful characters, judges, noblemen, medical doctors, and the like. He returned to the legitimate stage after the changeover to sound but was back in Hollywood by the 1940s, playing mostly bit roles. Marburgh spent his final years as a resident at the Motion Picture Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills, CA.
