Richard Maibaum penned his first Hollywood screenplay in the mid-'30s. Prior to that, he had been a well-known actor, producer, and playwright on-stage. During WWII, he was the director of the Army's Combat Film Division. Upon his return, he worked as a producer and a screenwriter at Paramount until the early '50s when he began making films in Great Britain with Albert Broccoli and Irving Allen. He went on to work on the scripts for most of the James Bond series and also helped out on numerous other scripts for both features and television shows.
