AADA graduate Lyle Bettger was a stage leading man from 1946 and enjoyed a long, steady career as a movie heavy. Most closely associated with Paramount Pictures, Bettger played such antisocial types as kidnapper Joe Beacom in Union Station (1950), pathologically jealous circus performer Klaus in The Greatest Show on Earth (1953), and outlaw Ike Clanton in Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1956). Conversely, Lyle Bettger was a straight-arrow hero in his two television series, Court of Last Resort (1958) and Grand Jury (1959).
