A pretty blond leading lady with blue eyes and long lashes, Mary Carlisle first appeared in silents at age 10, then costarred in "The Collegians" comedy series in the early '30s. She played leads in dozens of medium- and low-budget films in the '30s and early '40s. After filming Dead Men Walk (1943), she retired from the screen to marry actor-socialite James Blakely, who later became an executive for 20th Century-Fox. Beginning in 1951 she managed the Beverly Hills Elizabeth Arden beauty salon.
