Erdman entered films as an actor in the '40s, and appeared in such notable film as Objective, Burma!, The Men, and Stalag 17. He began directing for television in the '60s, and in 1971 wrote, produced, and directed the theatrical feature BLEEP. He also helmed The Brothers O'Toole.
