Synopsis

Clio Dulaine (Ingrid Bergman) was born out of wedlock. Her mother was a servant of a wealthy New Orleans landowner who paid for the pregnant woman to flee the country and move to France. Now looking to avenge her mother's ruined reputation, Clio travels to New Orleans to destroy the family that humiliated her mother all those years ago. And if she can charm herself into a marriage with rich Texas gambler Col. Clint Maroon (Gary Cooper) along the way, even better.
