A struggling church choir in a small Danish town suffers a leadership crisis when its conductor leaves. Although the officious Kirsten (Ditte Hansen) takes over, faith-driven singers Hannah (Lotte Andersen) and Grethe (Ditte Gråbøl) feel more inspired by the visiting African-American choir led by the charismatic Moses Jackson (Malik Yoba). When Hannah inadvertently causes a bus accident that injures Jackson, she and her friend endeavor to get him to stay and lead their more sedate choir.
