For the last five years, Lilah Bloom (Penelope Ann Miller) has been living with her widowed brother, Mitch (Ron Silver), and acting as a replacement mother for his three children. But, when Mitch gets remarried, Lilah finds herself suddenly displaced. She fears that, in spending so much time taking care of his family, she missed her chance to create a life of her own. But then she meets the charming Jack (Craig Sheffer) and realizes that there may still be hope for her after all.
