Synopsis

The Secret Policeman's Other Ball is an uncinematic but diverting "comedy concert" film spotlighting the Monty Python troupe (John Cleese, Michael Palin, Graham Chapman, Terry Jones). Two different all-star Amnesty International fund raisers were stitched together to form the film's 91 minutes. The Pythoners regale us with such tried and true routines as "The Cheese Shop"; they might have been even funnier had director Roger Graef known when and where to aim his cameras. Also appearing are comedians Peter Cook and Eleanor Bron and musical artists Pete Townshend, Phil Collins, Sting and Eric Clapton. The R-rated subject matter of some sketches may cause some parents to think twice about showing the film to children.
