This comedy is based on the Harold Pinter play of the same title. Stanley Weber (Robert Shaw) is the foggy minded boarder who rents from the daffy landlady Meg Bowles (Dandy Nichols). He has vague recollections of being a gangster and a piano player. Shamus (Patrick McGee) and Nat (Sydney Tafler) are the mobsters sent to retrieve the unstable Stanley, presumably to face the mob's brand of patented justice. This is another example of a play that did not quite make the transition to the big screen with the desired effect.
