Nicole Valery-Grossu is an intellectual political activist living in communist Romania. She is arrested for her anti-government views and sent to prison without a trial. She is then subjected to solitary confinement and rigorous interrogation. After months of abuse, Nicole has a religious awakening. Through her newfound faith, she finds the strength to endure the hardships imposed by her captors and inspires her fellow inmates by continuing her outspoken resistance.
