Synopsis

Maravillosa fábula antibelicista dirigida por Mario Monicelli con unos espléndidos Alberto Sordi y Vittorio Gassman y una joven Silvana Mangano mostrando su dramático histrionismo. Ganadora del León de Oro en el Festival de Venecia y nominada al Oscar a la Mejor película de habla no inglesa en 1959. 1916: La Primera Guerra Mundial es una carnicería que se vive a diario en las trincheras. En un regimiento italiano se encuentran Oreste (Alberto Sordi) y Giovanni (Vittorio Gassman), dos soldados entre quienes nace una fuerte amistad impulsada por el deseo de supervivencia. Tras un duro entrenamiento ambos pasarán al frente, donde imprevisiblemente la inútil pareja estará a punto de convertirse en ejemplo de heroísmo.
