- Was interested in animation since an early age and created his own drawings and animations with a Super 8 camera.
- Attended local colleges' night art classes and engaged in correspondence with Disney artists.
- Attended college on a Disney Family Fellowship.
- At age 20, was selected to work at the Disney Animation department after his second year in CalArts.
- Was trained by the original voice of Donald Duck, Clarence Nash, on Donald Duck's voice and inherited the role after his passing in 1985.
- Was honored with the Disney Legend Award in 2009.
