- Led Lincoln High School to a 40-0 record and the Texas state title in his senior year; he took the school to a 30-3 season and the state semifinals in his junior year.
- Graduated high school with honors and was admitted to the National Society of Black Engineers, the Dallas Association of Minority Engineers, the National Honor Society and the A-B Honor Roll.
- Played baseball as a high-school sophomore.
- Selected fourth overall in the 2003 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors.
