- Was recruited by his grandmother to do youth community theater at age 6.
- Increased his devotion to acting and singing after injuries stemming from a car accident in the seventh grade sidelined his participation in sports.
- Had the lead in three plays at Ithaca College.
- Made his Broadway debut in Rock of Ages in 2009.
- Simultaneously worked on two musicals in 2011: Broadway rehearsals for Bonnie & Clyde and pre-Broadway performances of Newsies at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ. He went on to originate the lead roles in the Broadway productions of both.
- Got his first regular role on a TV series by joining the cast of Smash in 2013.
