King began directing films in England in 1930 and eventually earned the nickname "King of the Quickies" by turning out numerous low-budget genre films. A proficient craftsman through the late '40s, he often produced his films, and is most fondly remembered for his horror tale The Face at the Window starring Tod Slaughter.
