In this musical, a traveling troupe of performers finds themselves stuck when the federal WPA cuts their funding. When someone discovers a bunch of counterfeit cash, the ingenious entertainers decide to use it to put down a deposit for a theater rental. Unfortunately, their ruse is discovered upon opening night.
