Learning a trade from someone at the top of the profession is something most people would like to have a chance to experience. Several home cooks not only get that opportunity in this series, but one of them will win $50,000 on top of that. Four top chefs -- Bobby Flay, Alex Guarnaschelli, Curtis Stone and Michael Symon -- each mentor two amateurs in this competition, guiding them through weekly challenges. Ten contestants begin, but they must fight for a spot on a mentor's team. The amateur cooks must impress the mentors as well as special guest judges, who help determine who gets cut in the weekly elimination round. The last contender standing at the end of the season walks away with the $50,000 prize. Ted Allen is the show's host.
