In part one of a two-episode story arc, Arthur Treacher is typecast to perfection as Pinckney, a "veddy proper" English butler. Hoping to "civilizes" the Clampett family, Mr. Drysdale engages Pinckney's services as a manservant for the hillbilly clan's mansion. But Granny assumes that this well-spoken Britisher merely wants to rent a room. To quote the nonplussed Mr. Treacher: "My woooorrrrd!" "The Boarder" was originally network-cast on December 9, 1964.
