After five seasons of looking for the worst cooks in America, Food Network turns to the positive side of cooking with its first search for the nation's best home cook as 16 cooks from across the country compete for the title of America's Best Cook and a $50,000 cash prize. The contestants are divided into teams of four -- each representing a certain region of the U.S. -- with each team mentored by a professional chef: Cat Cora, Tyler Florence, Alex Guarnaschelli or Michael Symon. Each episode features the teams competing in a group challenge that is critiqued by a guest judge. The bottom four cooks, as determined by the judge, face off in a second culinary challenge in which the judge determines who survives for another week and who goes home. The season finale sees the four remaining cooks competing in three single-elimination rounds to determine which cook -- and mentor -- comes out victorious. Food Network staple Ted Allen ("Chopped") hosts the inaugural six-episode competition.
